Any suggestions for a great place to eat in Cleveland Ohio?

I will be in Cleveland Ohio on a week day in September and would love a few suggestions for a great place to eat. Anything from the hidden hole in the wall to the place that any visitor should not miss if they are in the area. Let me know. ThanksAny suggestions for a great place to eat in Cleveland Ohio?
Downtown, there are two prime dining districts -- East 4th St. and the Warehouse District. Almost all of the restaurants mentioned below have their menus online for both dinner and lunch. At some of the restaurants, reservations are recommended days ahead of time.

On East 4th St., across Euclid Ave. from The Arcade, the best restaurants IMO, in no order, are Lola Bistro, Chinato, Saigon, and Greenhouse Tavern. Through perhaps mid-October, East 4th St. is a pedestrian mall with outdoor patios. Sometimes the full menu is not served on the patios, so check if you're interested in sitting outdoors.

Lola Bistro is the flagship restaurant of Iron Chef Michael Symon, named the 2009 James Beard best chef for the Great Lakes region. Chinato offers mod Italian interpretations by chef Zack Bruell, who operates several of Greater Cleveland's top restaurants. Greenhouse Tavern chef/owner Jonathan Sawyer was just named one of the best new chefs for 2010 by Food %26amp; Wine. The Greenhouse Tavern also was named one of the nation's best new restaurants in 2009 by Bon Appetit. Saigon is a reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant.

Momocho is a mod Mex restaurant in Ohio City, a 5-10 minute drive from downtown. If you enjoy Mexican food, you might not want to miss Momocho, as it's likely different than any Mexican cuisine you've ever experienced.

In the Warehouse District, also downtown, Blue Point Grille is the destination of choice for seafood. If you've never had Cherry Bombs or Hot Balsamic Popcorn, consider dining at Crop Bistro %26amp; Bar, Cleveland's most innovative restaurant and also in the Warehouse District.

Sokolowski's in Tremont, also a 5-10 minute drive from downtown, is your hole-in-wall place, but one that is a favorite of visiting foodies and cable food networks. It's very reasonably priced and serves ethnic homestyle food in a cafeteria setting. Also in Tremont, is Lucky's Cafe, home of Cleveland's best breakfast in the opinion of many. Bring a GPS if you're planning to venture into Tremont.

Just across the river from downtown is the West Side Market (across the street from the West 25th St. red line rail rapid station), perhaps the best surviving public streetcar market in the U.S. and a leading Cleveland tourist destination. There are many vendors there that serve great food, such as Maha's Falafil. The market is only open certain days of the week.

http://www.westsidemarket.org/vendor.asp鈥?/a>

A short walk from the West Side Market is the Flying Fig and the Great Lakes Brewery, home of some of the nation's best beer.

In the University Circle area, L'Albatros, named as one of the best new restaurants in the U.S. in 2009 by Esquire, is my choice for lunch or dinner. It's a short walk from the art museum.

Tommy's, offering Cleveland's most eclectic menu, whether vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore, is a short drive from University Circle in the charming Coventry neighborhood. Rolling Stone said Tommy's served up the best milkshakes east of the Mississippi.

Slyman's is the deli of choice downtown.

If you want to take the rapid rail line from Tower City to Shaker Square, there are several top restaurants there, including the charming Balaton, Cleveland's most acclaimed Hungarian restaurant.

http://www.shakersquare.net/directory-re鈥?/a>

If you like jazz, Nighttown would be the first choice, but Verve is a possibility.

Even though you have a rental car, you might want to check ingress and egress privileges at the parking garage you use. It might be cheaper to use RTA, which has $5 day passes and free trolleys downtown during business hours on weekdays, or a taxi.

Cleveland has developed a reputation as one of the best foodie centers in the Midwest, so your choices are many.

Enjoy your day in Cleveland!
I totally agree with this answer, esp. the order of restaurants.

There are a number of great restaurants, it depends on what neighborhood you are in and what type of restaurant you are looking for. Tremont, University Circle, and Little Italy are all hot spots in Cleveland that you don't want to miss. There are a number of great places, mostly local, in all of these neighborhoods.
Stino da Napoli is only a short drive from downtown. My brother loves going there every time he comes in from Texas. We were there again in late July and certainly each of us enjoyed our dinners. He says this is better Italian food than he can find anywhere in Houston. I know I love their food and have never been disappointed. But they don't take credit cards, so bring cash or a personal check! During the week, they're open 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm and reservations are suggested.

Does anyone know of a life coach in the cleveland oh area?

I am looking for a woman life coach in the cleveland area? I did a million searches, and can not find one. I am looking for one that is also a psychologist, so my insurance will cover it. If anyone can even find one for me in a search; it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Does anyone know of a life coach in the cleveland oh area?
Life coaching is not covered by insurance even if the person doing the coaching is a licensed therapist. Some do both, however in order to be covered by insurance you have to be diagnoses from the DSM IV (Diagnostical and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and be receiving therapy.

I have a Master's Degree in counseling and chose life coaching because I was a very action oriented counselor and prefered to focus on the future and present vs. the past.

A great deal of coaching is done via the phone, consider looking on the internet for coaching pages that you like.

There is a fine line between coaching and counseling. If you find a therapist that does Brief therapy, or Solution Focused Therapy, that would be covered and still feel like coaching.

Hope that helps.

You can check out my website if you want to find out more about my practice:

Just do the weekend class yourself and be your own life coach... Pffft

Hard to say as yet. But hopefully the worst of winter will be gone and although not all that warm, you should be seeing some signs of Spring.

Do you think the Cincinnati Bengals can beat the cleveland browns this weekend?

i am a titan fan and in order for them to make the playoffs cleveland has to lose. so i want your opinon on who you think will win.Do you think the Cincinnati Bengals can beat the cleveland browns this weekend?
It's possible. Cincinnati is good, but you never know what they're going to do week to week.

    Go Titans!!!
Sorry, but Cincy hasn't a prayer against Cleveland's offensive line.Do you think the Cincinnati Bengals can beat the cleveland browns this weekend?
definitly not. they lost to san francesco. and cleveland is way better then san fran!
no,they just can't beat the browns this year
i think cleveland wins in a rematch of there shoot out earlier this season
Sorry, even though as a Steelers fan it would benefit Pittsburgh more if Cleveland lost (which means I have to root for the Bungles by default *o*), but they are a really good team this year and are playing good ball at the right time, as much as it pains me to say it. Maybe this can be one of the upsets of the week.

    Cheers!
Hopefully. Even though I am a Steelers fan, I am sort of in the situation as you are. If the Steelers do not win, then they will probably not win the division, and they do not stand a chance in the playoffs at a fifth or sixth seed, if they can even make it with a 10-6 or 9-7 record.
Cincinnati has a great offense when they actually try, but it seems like they all only care about personal stats instead of winning. But if they decide they want to win then they have a good chance at beating the Browns, also it is a rivalry game and they always play really competitive games against each other, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals pulled off an upset.

I'm an Eagles fan and I only need about every NFC team to lose out to have my team in the playoffs, o well at least they beat the Cowgirls.
Im sorry to say this but the Cleveland Browns will beat the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals cant even beat the 49ers....

Obviously the Browns are better than the 49ers right now so the Bengals wont win.
i am really happy i am not counting on the cincinnati bengals winning a game for my favorite team to make the playoffs! i think they are one of the worst teams in the nfl. but that game looks like it could get crazy. remember when they played earlier in the season there were almost 100 total points scored, so id say almost anythign can happen.

thank god i am not counting on the bengals!!!!

its bad enough your fave team has such an inconsisten quarterback, it really sucks you have to count on the bungles!
    cleveland will win
i think that the browns are beatable. it all comes down to how well the Cincinnati bengals RB's do
They could. But......unfortunatly for the Titans, I dont see it happening.

There always is the any given sunday saying when anyone can be beat by anyone. But the Titans need to take care of business themselves.

Itll be a close game, closer than most people think. But, I dont see it happening
    yes yes yes

    cinci wins this week!!!
Cleveland will win, they're just an all around better team this year.
i dont think so since the browns have a good shot at a division title they will be tough to beat.
Im a Cincinatti fan, and this will be a close one this one will come down to whoever scores the most

Do you know anybody who was on either flight that was rerouted and landed in Cleveland on 9/11?

I've heard there was a plane that took hours before letting anybody off the plane in Cleveland that day yet another let passengers of virtually right away. How do the seating rows work at Progressive Field/Cleveland Indians?

Hi, I am going out of town to Cleveland and going to an Indians game. I am buying tickets in section 155 row AA. Is row AA the first row? Or is A the first row?

I'm not sure how it works.

Please help! Thanks. How do the seating rows work at Progressive Field/Cleveland Indians?
Progressive Field is a ballpark located in Cleveland, Ohio and is the home of the Cleveland Indians of the American League. along with Quicken Loans Arena, it is part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. it was ranked as Major League Baseball's best ballpark in a 2008 Sports Illustrated fan poll.

the ballpark is informally referred to as The Jake, based on its original name, Jacobs Field. it was known by that name since its inaugural season in 1994, until it was changed to Progressive Field prior to opening day 2008.How do the seating rows work at Progressive Field/Cleveland Indians?
A is the first row. AA is the 27th row as it comes after all the other alphabetical letters and there are probably something like 40 rows in some of the sections like 155 (depending on where they are in the ballpark)

  • How far could cleveland get in the playoffs WITHOUT lebron james?

For example if he goes down with a serious season ending injury the next game how far could cleveland get in the playoffs without him. Can they still have a good shot at winning the championship? How far could cleveland get in the playoffs WITHOUT lebron james?
They would have probably beat the Raptors or Bulls (both under 500) in Round 1, But they definately lose in round 2
Lebron is not there whole team The cavaliers actually have the deepest lineup in the NBA

Pg Mo Williams - daniel Gibson

Sg: delonte west - Anthony parker

    Sf: jamario moon- darrell Jackson

    Pf: hickson - verejao

    C: shaq- Ilgalskis

So don't assume there team would be nothing without him.

Saying that they would probably make it to the second round and lose. How far could cleveland get in the playoffs WITHOUT lebron james?
It depends on their opponent in the first round

If its the Bulls or Raptors then they will make it past the first round

If its the Bobcats or the Heat, Cavs will have an early exit

No matter who they play in the first, they will get swept on the 2nd round
Not too far..LeBron is, in my opinion, the greatest in this time period. (He's competing with Kobe.) He is the Cavs leading scorer and he can pretty much play any position.
Nope, they would go as far a the Eastern Semi's. Teams like the Lakers however, have proved that they can win without Kobe, wheras the Cav's havent.
No. The Cavs are Lebron. Take him away and they are just an average team, maybe less than average.
They would get destroyed............Hope that sh*t happens!
    Not far as with Lebron
8th place. They will get eliminated in the first round.
    they wont make it

What's a fun city to visit for a night between Cleveland, OH, and Philadelphia, PA?

We're taking a road trip from Cleveland to New York City and are making three stops along the way: Philadelphia, Newark, and another as yet undetermined stop. What's an interesting city between Cleveland and Philadelphia? We're trying to break up the drive over five or six days. We have two kids, ages 14 and 11.What's a fun city to visit for a night between Cleveland, OH, and Philadelphia, PA?
The kids might like seeing Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, PA. There's also Harrisburg as well as numerous orchards and wineries as wine season is now here. What's a fun city to visit for a night between Cleveland, OH, and Philadelphia, PA?
I'm from Philadelphia myself. If you travel via I76, you can check out some areas like Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, King of Prussia, Norristown, Conshohocken, and of course Philadelphia.

Most of Pennsylvania is farmland between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg as well as between Harrisburg and Philadelphia. Good Luck.

How easy is it to find a job in Cleveland, Ohio so far?

I will be moving to Cleveland, OH in the beginning of August. Does anyone know if it's difficult to find a job up there or not? Also, What areas are cheap for rent and not as high in crime? How easy is it to find a job in Cleveland, Ohio so far?
It really depends on what you are trying to get a job in. Cleveland's economy isn't that great but if you work in healthcare you have some of the best hospitals in the world to work in here. There are also several universities in the area that employ a number of qualified people.

If you are younger, i would suggest looking into living in Cleveland Heights (east side) or Lakewood (west side) which are both areas where younger people live. They are semi-urban, so you will still get some crime, but not nearly as much as living in Cleveland itself. I wouldn't suggest living in the suburbs unless you know people there as the rent is more expensive and there is 0 social life.

Rent, overall, is going to be cheaper in the Cleveland area than in many parts of the country. You can easily find a decent place for under $700 a month. Everything else here is dirt cheap.
Start looking now. There are jobs but it just depends on your skills. Check out Cleveland.com for listing for both jobs and apartments. What brings you to Cleveland school? I could better tell you where to stay according to your reasons for coming.

**If you're coming here to go to school and you're going to Case, CIA or CIM. I would say live in Cleveland Heights as well. Its safe and there are a lot of places to rent from, although its not always the cheapest, you can find other students to maybe share a house with. Check Craigs list and Cleveland.com to see if you can find someone looking for a roommate. I would not move to the Noble area of Cleveland Hts. Severance would be the furthest area, but look for places in the Cedar-Lee, Lee-Fairmount and Coventry areas to rent from.

If you're attending a west side area school like Baldwin Wallace I'd say look into Berea or Lakewood to rent from.

Cleveland State is a toss up between Cleveland Hts and Lakewood. **How easy is it to find a job in Cleveland, Ohio so far?
I haven't had to look for a job in years thank God, but things here are pretty bad. All I have to do is look out the window of my office and see that there aren't many cars parked in the parking garage any more.

It depends on what kinds of crimes you mean. Theft? Robbery? Stuff happens everywhere but by and large Cleveland Heights is safe, tho more expensive to live in. Parts of Lakewood on the west side are nice. (The east side is always more expensive than the west side). The west side crimes are different tho. Forget about living near downtown. Downtown Cleveland is a dump with some nice little pockets of clubs and upscale restaurants but you don't wanna live down here.

Why have the Cleveland browns been losers for so long?

I'm at a lose trying to think of why the browns have been losers for years.I've been a fan since the 70's,and the only time they've had a descent team was in the mid 80's.Is it the drafting staft doing a disgusting job?.Do the players they have want out of cleveland?.Whats the real reason? Why have the Cleveland browns been losers for so long?
Gee that's right...hmmm Doesn't this clear Belichick? He didn't win any Super bowls there, and his record was 36-44...boy that's strange.

Perhaps coach Mangini, was behind all this. It's no secret that Eric hates Bill.

    Very insightful. Thank you!
Actually they were the best team all the the 1960's. The early eighties they had a real good team as well as the mid eighties. Any franchise starting out has had some bumps in the road. Just wait for the next 5 years, this will not even be a topic of conversation.

Why have the Cleveland browns been losers for so long?
Art Modell screwed you guys, and then you had to start over from scratch with a new team. I think it's going to get better when you start playing Quinn because you picked up a lot of good players during the off season.

Now that Marty Schottenheimer is free, would you guys take him back as head coach

Mr Me: How would that clear Belichick? that just makes it all really suspicious. He went from losing to all of a sudden he's a coaching genius. Probably the cheating helped, don't you think?

EDIT: Sparxmith: You are wrong about "winners won't play for losers.". A lot of good young players who are top picks come out of college wanting to go to the weaker teams because they will get to start sooner. I read that in Chad Johnson's book. He wanted to be a Bengal because he wanted a team that he could help make great after he got there.

I believe Brady Quinn said the Browns were his first choice too.
The Cleveland Browns need stability in the staff in order to become a competitive football team, and so far, haven't been fortunate in that area. 3 head coaches since 1999, and had a major front office shakeup just 2 years ago have set this team back everytime it seems they're making moves towards improvement. You just can't build a cohesive group with major moves being made as frequently as the Browns have been making them. The team has done a decent job in the draft lately, but luck hasn't been on their side. It's hard to progress your rookies when you're having a coaching carousel every few years. And on top of that, the injury bug has slowed down a lot of the development of the younger players (Courtney Brown when he was there, Kellen Winslow, Jr. for 2 seasons, and Braylon Edwards last year).
the cardiac kids , and the Kosar years were good. just think, if it wasnt for Elway , the browns could have been to two superbowls... now with FA and bad picks , the years haven't been pretty..the steelers and ravens are always tough... the browns just haven't been keeping up.. also, the coaching staffs back then were made up of future coaches....

For someone that has been a "fan" since "the seventies", you really don't remember the glory years. You are just remembering the recent hard times. True - it is easier to remember them, but there have been good times.
The problems that the Browns have is caused by the same that most of the second tier NFL teams (actually, any second tier sports team) experience: Poor Leadership.

John Maxwell writes in "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" that any organization is limited by the strength of its top leaders. Unfortunately for NFL fans in Cleveland, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc., the Owners are very successful entrepreneurs, but poor leaders. On a scale of one to ten, Level 10 leaders can only attract up to level 9 leaders. Level 9 leaders can only attract up to level 8 leaders, and so forth and so on down the line. (Occasionally, a lucky owner will hire a GM who is a better leader than himself, but this is the exception and not the rule.)

What this creates is a lack of quality leadership in an organization that goes right down the line. And players, who must be leaders in their own right, won't follow the leadership of a Coach who falls below them on the scale. This of course has all sorts of repurcussions both on and off the field.

Understand, of course, that this is a very simplistic explanation of a very complex, but very real difficulty that all organizations face, both in and out of the sports world.

In other words, the Browns (and all the other perpetually sad teams of the NFL) are "losers" because Winners won't play for losers.
They make poor personel decisions in the draft. Look at their 1st round selections over the past seasons. Most of these guys aren't even in the league anymore. Plus they traded their entire D line to the Broncos not to long ago. The Joe Thomas pick is the best move they made in a while. Mark my words. Brady Quinn will be a bust.
Their name and those fugly helmets.
Bad management - they used to be one of the better teams around.
Because they are in Cleveland...since when they were a decent team?
i think they have less than 40 21st century wins

they've never been 1st in their conference in 20 years

they've had 2 winning seasons in the past 17 years
Havent had good QB play in a while. They need one good franchise QB that will be around for 8-10 years to build around.
They have only been a loser since the Lerner family was awarded the new franchise.

The Lerner's don't know much about football so, in trying to do something good for the city, they listened to local sports authorities and DJs who really didn't know crap.

First they tried to emulate San Fran with Carmen Policy. This didn't work because DeBartolo hired Policy to find loopholes in teh salary cap and stock the team with mroe good players. Policy did that and the 9'er had a dynasty.

Lerner was not going to let Policy "cheat" in Cleveland, so he had to rely on his football knowledge, which were minimal.

Enter Phil Savage, or as I call him Phil Sewage.

Therein lies the entire problem with the Browns. He has been a total failure at bringing talent to Cleveland and ha no concept of winning. He tied up an entire year with Charlie Frye, then gave him the entire pre-season only to bench him and trade him after 20 minutes of play.

The reasons the Browns lose is because they have no talent. Winslow IS slow, Jamal is worn out, Ted Washington, Joe Jurevicius and Orhpeus Roye are ready to retire, they have no QB and no WRs who can catch.

Until Lerner stops listening to the idiot people of Cleveland, fires Savage and hires someone who is all about football, they will continue to be one of the NFL's worst teams.
The usual reasons a team doesn't win much are:

    a) a bad coach who doesn't know how to motivate the team, or is outrightly abusive;

    b) a team with too many prima donnas and not enough team players (again, this is usually due to item a, a bad coach);

    c) too much in-house politics and corruption;

    d) insufficient financial motivation (read: low pay and minimal incentives)
same didvision as the steelers, ravens and bengals.same conference as the pats, colts and chargers. bad management, bad coaching and bad drafts.they have great fans thou.
They are in a division where They get beat up. Steelers, Ravens, Bemgals. Three really good teams.
    i blame the owners
    beacause they SUCK

How many of you would rather live in Cleveland than Miami?

And if you played any sport (ANY SPORT!), why would you want to play in Cleveland instead of Miami? How many of you would rather live in Cleveland than Miami?
    Miami................

But plz Miami is not all that!I've been their and its a dump..........
Miami has a horrible fan base. the have a baseball team that has 3 world titles but still no fans... heat have a title but lacked fans and had a decent year last year. I live in tampa nad have been to miami many times they are bandwagon fans. Football will rule their not basketball. you could ask this question about any city he wouldnt want to live in miami..Lebron wont have the same fan base that he had the wont be loyal and if they dont win this year trust me he will be ridiculed by the league. The bad thing is i still dont think they will win..not big enough the wont have the toughness to win a title. he falls apart in big games d-wade is great and will prove to be their #1 guy. how will james deal with being #2 on a team?...they arent gonna build miami around lebron like they did Cleveland. Miami has people moving in and out every day cleveland doesnt they had what they had a fan base and dreams of a good sports team..Trust me Miami doesnt care yeah the sports bars will do good for tourism but when you got a cuban, Haitian, mexican, jewish, and other nationalities that are not loyal basketball fans i just think he has a 50-50 chance of being a flop can you imagine them losing and not making it to the finals. It will be the talk of sports a guy who cant finish. he still has alot to do kobe, jordan, magic, bird, and the list goes on of players who took their teams to championships he'll be known as the guy who couldnt...he may be perfect for miami, cause he gonna be like marino just cant win the big game! How many of you would rather live in Cleveland than Miami?
i play baseball so miami would definitely be better, but miami even though abudant in hot girls, is just too hot for me. besides i live i cleveland and i'm doing just fine.
I'd like to think that I wouldn't be shallow enough where I wouldn't give Cleveland a chance, especially if I had played 7 years there in front of some very loyal fans.
Miami is a sh!thole. Florida is just a flat, hot, boring state.
Miami is probably ok. But if I were moving there, I wouldn't ask for a TV show to publicly say "drop dead" to my home town.
You would get more attention in Miami than in cleveland! Perfect for people like lebron!!!
    miami

i was a heat fan since i started watching nba

wade ios my favorite so why not miami?
ONLY RETARDS THAT ARE NOT FROM CLEVLAND WOULD PICK THAT CITY OVER M.I.A.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Are the Cleveland Browns the worst NFL team as of recent years and especially this year?

I mean the Colts are bad but Peyton Manning got injured and the Rams beat the Browns this season. Cleveland can not play a full football game without losing. Are the Cleveland Browns the worst NFL team as of recent years and especially this year?
of recent years besides this year... the lions (im a die-hard lions fan) i mean 3-13, 0-16, 2-14, then 6-10... (now 10-5) :)
yah , you got that right. when was the last time they won enough games to challenge for a playoff spot? at least teams like the bucs, the dolphins, the rams, the chiefs, have had at least winning seasons and playoff apperences, but the browns, i don't understand how a team continually cannot get the players in place to win at least a wild card. bad drafts, no qb there for a while, and i know holgrem is a good judge of talent, but even he has failed there. Are the Cleveland Browns the worst NFL team as of recent years and especially this year?
I don't think they are the worst team this year, there are a few that take those honors..Colts, Vikings, Rams. But considering this past decade it would be hard to come up with another team that are run as bad as the Browns franchise.
No, I think they're a much better team than their record would indicate.

They have an amazing secondary, when healthy, a good O-line (when healthy), a solid pass rush, some good linebackers, and I believe that Peyton Hillis should stay.
yes and they will stay like that for 10+ years. They cant protect colt mcoy and there defence cant stop anybody. They really need to rebuld there team.
The Rams beat the **** out of the Saints too. The Colts are by far the worst team I've seen.
Have you been in a coma? Obviously you never heard of the Detroit Lions in recent years.

  • Where is the best place to live in Cleveland?

We lived in Avon Lake previously and enjoyed it, but would like to be more on the east side this time. We're looking for a somewhat rural place with good public transportation to downtown Cleveland and good schools. Thanks.Where is the best place to live in Cleveland?
If you want a place that's somewhat rural, that has good schools, that's on the east side, you might consider Pepper Pike or Hunting Valley, especially in the latter case, if you have a lot of money. They are both served by the excellent Orange School District. Chagrin Falls also has somewhat rural areas and an excellent school district, but isn't quite as conveniently located for a downtown commute, especially by public transportation.

None of these areas have much in the way of direct public transportation to my knowledge.

However, as discussed in recent posts, you would have fairly easy access, especially from western Pepper Pike to the eastern most rail rapid park-and-ride station at Green Road/Shaker Blvd. in Shaker Heights.

Kirtland in Lake County has much park land and Holden Arboretum. Its school district is well rated, even though it is rather small. Kirtland certainly has rural areas. Someone who wanted to use public transportation could drive to a Laketran park and ride station (such as at Classic Stadium off route 2 in Eastlake) to take a bus downtown. Note however that Laketran's downtown commuting schedule is somewhat limited, and it differs among park and ride stations.

    http://www.laketran.com/maps/express/

One advantage of Kirtland is that it would be relatively easy to participate in the many recreation classes and opportunities offered by the city of Mentor, which charges slightly higher rates to non-residents. Quick access to Holden also is an incredible educational resource IMO.

Willoughby Hills in Lake County is closer to downtown, has somewhat rural areas, and is served by the Willoughby/Eastlake School District. You need to check individual schools in this district as often the Willoughby schools, such as Willoughby South High School, have higher ratings than the Eastlake schools. Willoughby Hills also is served by Laketran park and rides.

    BOL!
Personally, I prefer living closer to Lake Erie for its recreational opportunities (Mentor Headlands and even Presque Isle in Erie on the east side), Lake Metroparks (Farmpark for kids) and especially Holden Arboretum, but I'm an outdoors oriented person.

Where is the best place to live in Cleveland?
Brecksville offers the easiest commute of the three communities that you mentioned, with an RTA bus line. It has a cute little downtown area, and the schools are well rated. Some housing lots are big, but I'm not certain you would consider it rural. The Metropark reservation there is very nice.

Richfield has great natural beauty, certainly rural areas, and the CV National Park. It's top-rated by Cleveland Magazine. I'm not familiar with its schools. It's too long a downtown commute (nasty sometimes in winter) for me.

Medina has perhaps the nicest downtown square in the Western Reserve IMO. The schools have a good reputation. Rural living likely a plus for you. Nearby retail opportunities are limited compared to other areas. Very long commute to downtown, likely only by car. Check everything out!!! BOL!!!

Mentor has good schools and not far from downtown! You can find cheap apartment living as well as nice houses in Mentor! There's something for everyone! :)

What is there to do in or around Cleveland at night?

So I'm going to be in Cleveland at around midnight tonight with a bunch of friends. We're all 18 so we can't go to any bars. Anyone from the area know a place or two? What is there to do in or around Cleveland at night?
go to Little Italy for dining %26amp; then Legacy Village drinks afterward, its not a club or bar, but youll find a few good places there to chill %26amp; have a drink. their both in east cleveland %26amp; not far from eachother.

oh your 18, ok, forget legacy for drinks, there is a bunch of places around downtown to find entertainment

What is there to do for enjoyment in Cleveland, Ohio?

What is there to do for enjoyment in Cleveland, Ohio during the weekends? What is there to do for enjoyment in Cleveland, Ohio?
1.An interesting place to visit is the Lakeview Cemetery. It was founded in 1869 and modeled after garden cemeteries in Victorian England and France. There are many notable figures buried here, including President James A. Garfield. His monument is said to be one of the most beautiful in the country. There is a magnificent view of Lake Erie also. Lake View Cemetery is known as Cleveland's Outdoor Museum.

2.Walk or drive over to Little Italy for some old world charm and a cup of coffee at Corbo鈥檚 Bakery. You can take a stroll through the streets and see architectural elements similar to those in Italian villages. There are many different stores and restaurants with welcoming owners and shopkeepers. Wandering among the art galleries, cafes and restaurants you will feel the hominess of the neighborhood.

3.The next stop is the West Side Market. Cleveland has a year-round fruit and vegetable market where you can also get meats, cheeses and different ethnic foods.

4.After purchasing some good snacks and groceries, walk across Market Street to the Great Lakes Brewing Company for lunch or dinner. They offer a varied menu with an excellent Bourbon Bread Pudding for dessert. There are tours of the brewery offered on Fridays and Saturdays. There is an outdoor dining patio. The building is also full of historical photos and information.

5.The final destination for this day trip is Edgewater State Park. There are two areas to the park, an upper and lower. One of the best views of downtown Cleveland can be had from the upper part of the part. The park has a 900-foot swimming beach, paved bicycle trails and a fitness course. A statue of Conrad Mizar, the oldest monument in Cleveland, can be found near the pavilion. Also available are a fishing pier, a boat launch, concession stand and a beautiful sunset to end the day.

    6. take a stroll in the Cleveland Metropark.

    7. go to Six flags or cedar point!

    8. go to the metroparks zoo

    9. go to an Indians game at Jacob's field or a Cavs game at the Q!

    10.Attend Cleveland Orchestra Community Concerts

The Cleveland Orchestra, arguably the "Best Orchestra in the World," makes itself accessible to the citizens of its home town with several free community concerts throughout the year. The most popular of these is the July 4th weekend concert, held annually on Public Square. Hundreds of thousands of Clevelanders come out to sit under the stars and hear the Orchestra play Tchaikovsky's "1812 Orchestra," among other selections, accompanied by fireworks.

11.Savor the Sunset over Lake Erie

The view of the sunset from Cleveland's Edgewater State Park, on the city's near west side, is one of the loveliest in town. Bring a picnic dinner and dine as you watch the sun sink unobstructed into the horizon. Or, walk along the beach and enjoy the view

    12.Marvel at the Old Arcade

The Cleveland Arcade is an architectural gem. Built in 1890 to resemble the shopping arcades of Milan Italy, the arcade is just off of Public Square, between Euclid and Superior Avenues.

The structure has a tower at both ends with a five-story sky-lighted atrium between them. The arcade boasts elaborate metalwork and intricate brass gargoyles look down from the top level. Chairs are offered on the balconies for passersby to rest and marvel at the view.

    13. GO to the rock and roll hall of fame!

    14. go to the flats!
not very much. you could go to lakewood or shaker heights. otherwise get out of there just like everyone else is.

    .....................................

pack and leave? I completely agree on that one! Third guy down has you visiting a cemetary right out of the gate, what does this tell you? What is there to do for enjoyment in Cleveland, Ohio?
Go to the Rock and Roll hall of fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, ride the Good Times III (a boat the will take you on a tour of Cleveland), go to a Cleveland Indians baseball game, or go shopping at Tower City.

Are the Cleveland Browns the most un-desirable team to play for in the nfl?

Think about it. Its them or the Rams, Lions, Raiders.

---Cleveland is the worst city out of these

    ----Worst uniforms in the NFL

    --- No Superstars anywhere

---Terrible at using the talent they aquire. Are the Cleveland Browns the most un-desirable team to play for in the nfl?
    1. I don't know when the last time you have been too St. Louis, Detroit or Oakland, but I would rather stay in Cleveland. I have lived in all of these cities.

    2. The Uniforms, well you have to be a Browns fan to love them, they just represent heritage. I'll give you that one, because I am biased on this one.

    3. Joe Thomas, Pro Bowl last 2 seasons, one of the best offensive left tackles in football and Josh Cribbs. I couldn't name one team that wouldn't want either one of these guys on their team.

    4. I give it to you on the last regime, but now that we have Holmgren in town, I can't see that being the case anymore. The next couple of seasons will tell the tale.
I don't know, but we need to get that Vikings guy off of hereAre the Cleveland Browns the most un-desirable team to play for in the nfl?
I think any team that doesn't have Favre is the most undesirable team to play for.
Yeah you are right. I was about to say the Detriot Lions, but they have talent. They just need a better coach start. They have Calvin Johnson a big time College star ( former ). What is he doing in the NFL? Nothing.
I understand your frustration. I live a few miles from Oakland. I'd say the Raiders would be the black pit of the NFL. They just acquired a second-rate quarterback, Jason Campbell, from the Redskins to replace their third-rate, overpaid, sloppy, lazy, money-sucking quarterback, JaMarcus Russell. Add to this an incompetent, egotistic, power-hungry owner who's about as old as Methuselah and a head coach known for brutality against persons smaller than himself, and it's not hard to imagine years and years and years (and did I mention years and years?) of sub-par football from this franchise. Years and years.
yes and the little talent they do have is old they about to retire and rebuild for the next 20 years lol ill hate to be a brown fan
I think the reason they are the most undesirable team in the nfl is because no one wants to lose to a team with a poop colored uniform and wear it for that matter
Even though the Raiders had a good draft they are the one team that no one wants to go to. You only end up there if you are drafted, get no other offers, or they totally over pay for you. There is no system in Oakland that continues to teach or to build a player up... Oakland is a place to die on the vine... Even Randy Moss flat out gave up there only to remember who he was in New England.

Even in adding Jason Campbell to the team they have improved to having an average quarterback instead of the biggest bust since Ryan Leaf... I would rather play anywhere than Oakland because 5-10 is never going to get you into the playoffs.

And Cleveland now has Holmgren... he will rebuild them. I bet you that Cleveland will be 8-8 long before Oakland ever sees .500.
    Saints, they cheat

Check the listings for housing in the "rooms/shared" or "sublets/temporary" category at http://cleveland.craigslist.org/. This way, you will be able to just get in touch directly with owners and probably negotiate terms. They are probably flexible. Or, another option might be couch surfing - http://www.couchsurfing.com/.

Lakewood (west side) and Cleveland Heights or Shaker Square (east side) are places I would recommend to find cheap rentals in good safe walkable neighborhoods where there are interesting cafes and restaurants, and great public transit access to the airport, downtown and University Circle.

A lot of large apartment complexes often have short term furnished units, but they are typically in the outer suburbs and inconvenient. However, there are some large highrises in Lakewood on Edgewater Drive like Marine Towers or the Shoreham that have short term furnished apartments avaiable. Check out http://www.apartmentguide.com

Pikeview Motel on Pearl Rd. in Strongsville rents by the week. It's an old motel, but the rooms are clean and they have a microwave and dorm size refrigerator so you can fix some meals there rather than eating out each meal. My brother stayed there for 2 1/2 months until he got into his new home. I think he paid around $165 per week.

Moving to Cleveland from CA, can someone recommend types of clothing to buy for the weather?

I know the weather is going to be drastically different in Cleveland than California. What types of clothes, shoes, boots, etc... should I buy to be prepared. I'll be there for several years, so I need to be ready year-round. Thanks!Moving to Cleveland from CA, can someone recommend types of clothing to buy for the weather?
Dress in layers during the late fall, winter and early spring. Consider buying a Columbia 3-in-1 kind of jacket because it has everything you need: light/wet weather layer, mid-weight layer and they combine for warmth during late Nov through early March. If you're looking for only one pair of shoes, something like these (a low ankle or chukka boot) are appropriate all year: http://www.drmartens.com/ProductDetail.a鈥?/a> It gets cold enough to snow in October. I think our first snowflakes fell around 10/18 last year but the first snow heavy enough for snow plows and shoveling was in December. The snow plows worked in April this year. Do you wear hats? Some people wear skullies or knit hats to keep their heads and ears warm. Lightweight longjohns help during the winter especially if you take the bus.
Think layers. You may want to invest in a couple of pairs of long johns, and boots, gloves. I wear a down jacket probably 6 months out of the year. It rains a lot in the spring so a water proof windbreaker is good.

The summers can be just as hot as anywhere else and very humid. Shorts, sandals and tshirts. We have nice beaches here so you can swim (Mentor Headlands is the cleanest).Moving to Cleveland from CA, can someone recommend types of clothing to buy for the weather?

Your best bet may be in Huron, nearer the Lake Erie islands, less than an hour from downtown Cleveland.

  • For a third fantasy wide receiver would you start ronald curry (oakland) against cleveland?

wes welker (new england) against buffalo, or JOe jurevicius (cleveland) against oakland? Or should i take risk and get free agent James Jones (green bay) who is projected 11+ points. Also tony romo vs chicago or Jon kitna vs the eagles? For a third fantasy wide receiver would you start ronald curry (oakland) against cleveland?
cleveland's pass defense is TERRIBLE. Chad Johnson had over 200 yards last week, Carson Palmer had 6 td passes and Pittsburgh also threw all over them. Curry should be a great play!!!For a third fantasy wide receiver would you start ronald curry (oakland) against cleveland?
    Curry

Why is like the Cleveland metro-market defined in like so many different ways?

Like some places list it with a metro population of 4.5 million, some say 3.3 million, some (most) say 2.9 million, some even say 2.2 million.

    What's the deal?

Is it cause they like include Canton and Akron and like Youngstown and stuff? That would make sense cause those places get all their news and TV from Cleveland.

I'm like doing a study on Cleveland for something and any info would like help and stuff.

    I love you.

    Seriously.

Hold me, like seriously and stuff. Why is like the Cleveland metro-market defined in like so many different ways?
Well, you are exactly right about some market data including cities like Akron, Canton, and Youngstown. Depending on what the market data is used for, you will hear different numbers. Northeast Ohio is actually very urbanized and metropolitan compared to other parts of the state which are largely rural. For example, you can actually immediately leave Columbus and Cincinnati city limits and be in a completely rural environment. In Cleveland it is hard to go twenty miles outside the city limits and see open space. So, because Northeast Ohio in general is all very urbanized it is difficult to determine what Greater 'Cleveland' really is and includes.

I would consider the 'real' metro area to include the population of Cuyahoga County and the population of all municipalities in other counties that border Cuyahoga. I think a 'fair' assesment metro-market assesment would include all people living in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Lake, Geauga, and Summit counties. This fair assesment is probably where the 2.9 million comes from, but I don't know for sure. Why is like the Cleveland metro-market defined in like so many different ways?
Well, Akron/Canton and the Youngstown area are usually not considered in the census bureau numbers for Cleveland, but depending on whether you are using marketing data, you will see those areas included. Cleveland has been losing population steadily since the 1970's when the shift from the manufacturing to the service economy occurred. Originally, areas like Solon, Chagrin Falls, Twinsburg and Hudson weren't considered part of the Cleveland area. Many of them were in the Western Reserve. In fact, the metro park system or emerald necklace used to delineate Cleveland proper. And, although Aurora is in Summit county it is still considered today as a suburb of Cleveland.

So, it depends a lot on whether you are doing a study of the "Cleveland area" or the City of Cleveland Proper. And then of course, do you include the Heights (Cleveland Heights, Coventry, etc.) You are going to have to define the area you exactly wish to research and set your own parameters.

How old do you have to be to rent a hotel room in Cleveland, OH?

My boyfriend and I need to rent a room for one night in Cleveland, OH. He is 19 and I am 18. We would like to book it in advance so we will use a credit card, but I am worried that you have to be 21.How old do you have to be to rent a hotel room in Cleveland, OH?
Honestly it depends on the individual hotel. I'm 20 and I have stayed in hotels in Columbus, Ohio on my own. If you go to most websites they usually list a required age for check-in. Although most places don't seem to enforce it. On the Motel 6 website it says the required age is 21 but when I checked in they did not seem to care.

Basically just look around. You will be able to find a hotel without being 21. Good luck!
18How old do you have to be to rent a hotel room in Cleveland, OH?
i was under the assumption that if you are old enough to obtain a credit ( aka "legal voting age, no longer a minor") you can get hotel rooms anywhere
    Yeah right!
    haha to have sexx...
It's going to vary from hotel to hotel normally. You should call the hotel and check to see what their policy is.
    I believe its 18.

Is the area around north ave and cleveland in chicago a good area to live?

i found an apartment around north ave and cleveland in chicago, but i don't know how the area is? are there shootings there, and are there gang activites and gangs in the area. apreciate your info.Is the area around north ave and cleveland in chicago a good area to live?
It's a pretty decent area. It's been going through some changes lately, with housing developments being torn down, new condos coming up. It has it's problems like most places (there have been reports of a few people being robbed at the CTA train station nearby), but overall it's a pretty happening. I used to hang out there a lot in the past, not so much now, but occasionally go there. The Old Town area is nearby (Second City comedy club, Zanies comedy clubs, Old Town Ale House bar, restaurants, etc.), North/Clybourn shopping corridor is just west of you a bit, there a big new Whole Foods that just opened not too far away, supposedly the biggest in their chain. There are "undesireables" all over the city, so you have to be on your toes at all time. But as for that area, it's pretty cool.
That's a pretty nice area. There are gangs in every area. It's a major city. There are projects about four blocks south on Division. But it really is a nice area right there. Steppenwolf theater is right there. You're close to the Red Line. There's a Whole Foods right down the street. There's a little pocket of night life spots. Do it.Is the area around north ave and cleveland in chicago a good area to live?
that's Old Town. that area can be dicey. There's nice parts and parts I wouldn't frequent at night. right around Sedgwick and North there's new construction that's pricey, built right next to Section 8 housing for low income residents.

  • Will they continue making family guy episodes even when the cleveland show comes out?

Now I have just found out that there is going to be a cleveland show and will it take over family guy? I mean wtf how does cleveland get his own show????? Anyway I was just wondering what you think of this and do you think they will stop making new family guy episodes? Will they continue making family guy episodes even when the cleveland show comes out?
Yes, unfortunately. The Cleveland Show looks horrible.
to the best answer, they aren't cancelling it. they are showing them together on the line up.

Will they continue making family guy episodes even when the cleveland show comes out?
Maybe this is an elaborate scheme to get Cleveland killed off TV for good? Think about it, if they legitimately terminate Cleveland's character (we all know he isn't funny and during the current economic hardships they could use some unloading of any extra cast baggage) everyone will be calling Seth MacFarlane a racist because Cleavland is black. They know a Cleavland spin off is doomed to raw fail, and we know how FAUX feels about black people, so to execute this elaborate conspiracy they will just create a spin off appearing as a legitimate concern for Cleavland's character. It will fail as according to plan with its poor rating and cheesy storyline, thus the Family Guy cast will be absent of a dull, unessential Cleavland. The question would be is this a win or a fail for Family Guy? This conspiracy is consistent if you think about it, there is even the possibility that Cleveland only existed to keep critics from questioning the absence of a black character. Think about it, every Cleavland appearance on the show failed to entice or ruin the overall scene, rendering his existence nonessential and worthless, which is a legitimate motive for his termination.
lol! wow I had no idea, I just looked it up and It looks alright, but they shoulden't cancel family over it. They could play both shows just like they do with american dad and family guy.
I have a feeling The Cleveland Show will be a short-running series.

What is the cost of living in Cleveland, Ohio?

Can someone give me an idea what can a person or family afford on $30,000/year living in Cleveland, it can be buying a house, renting a home or apartment.

Your help is appreciated. What is the cost of living in Cleveland, Ohio?
Cleveland Ohio cost of living is like it is here in Indiana. Lower than other states. First figure out your monthly budget. What are you paying now? Are you confortable in what you are paying now? A 80,0000 mortgage would be roughly 587.01 depending on your credit score - I put the rate in at 8 percent, since I do not have your "true" picture. This is P %26amp; I only and not taxes and homeowners insurance.

What are some great churches in the Cleveland area?

I'm looking for Protestant churches in and around Cleveland, any you would recommend? Thanks. What are some great churches in the Cleveland area?
Tell us more about you. Are you looking for a protestant church that is liberal or conservative. How old are you and where in cleveland area are you? It will help us narrow the options some. In the meantime I'll offer the place I found very welcoming when I was looking for a church home, and a place I still enjoy going back to when I am in the area

I love worshiping at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Tremont, downtown. They are very community and justice oriented, and welcome everyone. The UCC motto is "no matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey -- you're welcome here."

The church itself is gorgeous - built in the late 1800s with lots of stained glass, including a circular rotunda of glass. (check the pictures of the bldg on their website below!) The building is classic and old fashioned, their ideas are NOT!

They welcome young, old, gay, straight, families, singles, rich, poor, people with disabilities, and just everyone.

In the late 80s they were a dying urban church with about 60 older members who couldnt support the huge structure. They called a young woman pastor who nurturedf the members while growing the church to nearly 400 members!! They are now a vibrant congregation where EVERYONE participates in the outreach of the church. They remodled the beautiful sanctuary and trimmed the arches with hand painted wallpaper borders -- every Tuesday night for a year, members met and painted a professionally designed pattern, so today everyone can claim a part in making the sanctuary beautiful.

The outreach to the needy in the commuinity is sincere. They have a food pantry, a special needs fund, a committment to a 10% tithing mission, and host a homeless "standdown" where tents go up for one or two weekends a year, and services for the city's homeless are available - free haircuts, foot care specialists, health screenings, free food, showers clean clothing closet, new socks %26amp; underwear, and mental health counselors.

I love it because after a divorce, I no longer fit the Mom, Dad and two kids mold that was so popular at my church. The programs didn't suit my needs. I felt immediately welcome the minute i walked in the doors of Pilgrim. I visited many times and every time, someone would notice me and welcome me. -- a very rare happening in many churches!

They offer tons of programs, from movie groups %26amp; discussions, health screenings and yoga, women's and men's bible groups and spirituality book groups, and youth mission trips.

If you are more conservative, this may not be your piece of birthday cake, but if you want a lively, faithful, Christ following, mission supporting church. Drop in one Sunday!

Grace %26amp; Peace !What are some great churches in the Cleveland area?
Old Stone Church down town is my favorite....

How fast does a cleveland flowering pear tree grow per year?

how fast does a cleveland flowering pear tree grow per year i live on long island N.Y. i am going to plant 2 cleveland flowering pear trees over the weekend does it matter if i plant it close to the hounse or will i have a problem with the root years down the road ,, any tips and advice is greatly appreciatedHow fast does a cleveland flowering pear tree grow per year?
I hope it is not too late to answer your question as we are already into the weekend. :) The Cleveland Flowering Pear grows to a mature height of 30' and it's spread is up to 20'.

It's considered a "rapid" grower, as is the Bradford Pear, which I have. I don't know how rapid is "rapid," but I can tell you that I started with a TWIG in January of last year, and it grew 5 1/2' in ONE YEAR. I could NOT believe it! Now, I moved recently, and I dug that puppy up to take with me (it has sentimental value) and I pruned it back to two-thirds it's height while it was still dormant. It is now leafing out beautifully and I hope that your experience with your trees is equally as positive and satisfying! My only caution is to give them PLENTY of space.

    Happy Gardening!

In your lifetime, do you see the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds both playing in the World Series?

In you lifetime, do you see the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds both playing each other in the World Series? Why or why not?In your lifetime, do you see the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds both playing in the World Series?
Unfortunately no. As a lifelong Clevelander, we just haven't seen the leadership, talent, and cohesiveness needed to have a winning team. Also, the pitching, while very good, has never been the greatest, due to money and other issues. I think that in critical situations the Indians are not able to handle the stress. I would love to see an Ohio Series, but I highly doubt I will.
GREAT FOR OHIO!!!In your lifetime, do you see the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds both playing in the World Series?
Yes, if Cleveland can hold on to their young guns and the Reds continue on their momentum, it will happen. Although, the AL East and Central are pretty strong at the moment and the NL Central is a large division and tough to win.
did u ever think you'll c the day when the detriot tigers played for the title
As long as you subscribe to the belief that that anything is possible. I say, Why not?
Yes, but not at the same time.
    Sure why not.

The Marlins won the World Series a few years back.

The Minn. Twins are right in it.

The Reds are only a few players away.

So I think it is possible.
Cleveland would be more than likely to hold up their end of the bargain with their current and very promising young roster.

Unfortunately their inner state rivals would come up short. The Reds can't seem to find the right formula for success. Each year they are always missing a few key ingredients.
    no
No, I don't think so. They're just not that good, at the same time!!
Sure, why not? Im 15, so I should have plenty of time left. And besides, all any team needs is a rich owner, a great GM, a great team, and pretty much most importantly, good team chemistry.
No they just aren't great at the same time. Maybe in my lifetime but that will be a long time. I'd like to see it happen.

Where is the best hiking trail near Cleveland?

My girlfriend and I are looking for a challenging hike tomorrow. We're both very athletic and in good shape, so we're looking for something much more than a scenic walk in the park. We live in Cleveland but would be willing to drive a few hours for something fun. Any ideas?Where is the best hiking trail near Cleveland?
Try the Ledges Trail or a section of the Buckeye Trail In the Cuyahoga National Park. You Can also take 80 to the Alleghenies, although that's about three Hours from you.

You Might also Try Hell's Hollow In McConnells Mill. That's off 79 just south of 80

How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?

My boyfriend is coming to visit me for my birthday on the weekend of September 25th. The only problem is that the flights from Toronto to Cleveland are outrageously expensive. Are there any ways to find cheaper flights or cheaper ways to travel ? His brother is borrowing his car for the weekend, so driving isn't an option. Any help ?How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?
He could take a Greyhound bus, those are really cheap. And like other people are saying, flying within the Canada and then taking a bus the rest of the way would also be pretty cheap. The reason the flights are considered so expensive is because between the US and Canada is considered "international" so dumb, lol.

Also, if none of these options work out he should tell his brother to borrow his car on a different weekend, as gas prices are now reasonable and driving would be by far the cheapest option.
I recommend taking the train. It's fast, comfortable, and cheap. If you book ahead, you can get a one-way ticket for $75, or round-trip for $136. It's a full day of travelling.

DEPART Toronto Union Station at 8:30am aboard Amtrak #64/VIA Rail #97, the Maple Leaf, and arrive Buffalo at 1:16pm.

DEPART Buffalo Depew at 11:59pm aboard Amtrak #49, the Lake Shore Limited, arriving Cleveland at 3:27am.

The second option is Greyhound bus. Not as comfortable, but faster. It takes an average of 8 hours with a transfer in Buffalo, and costs $51 each way if booked in advance. See http://greyhound.ca for schedule and pricing details. How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?

How will Steeler fans react when Cleveland gets their 2nd W of the season Thursday night?

Sorry Pitt, but I got Cleveland in this one.

Got $500 big ones riding on the Browns (and they gave me 10 points)

It's a lock, Budweiser and Hemp Pie on me.How will Steeler fans react when Cleveland gets their 2nd W of the season Thursday night?
I honestly don't believe it will happen but i must admit i would luv it if it does, and as for how the Steeler fans would react..I could care less
I don't think the Browns can do it.How will Steeler fans react when Cleveland gets their 2nd W of the season Thursday night?
They will celebrate by burning down the stadium.
looks like you'll be losing $500 cause i think rothlesbergers back, browns have the worst rushing offense in the league, they need a miracle to win
I wouldn't be surprised if the Browns put up some points against Pittsburgh's lame duck defense, especially passing. But the Steelers are going to walk all over them offensively and win.
    They will be disappointed.
Commit suicide in honor of the old Steelers!!!
I'm not gunna lie I'd love to see this happen but i really don't think that it will. Good luck tho
    not going to happen!

What are the chances if the Indians were to move out of Cleveland they would win a World Series?

Cleveland brings out the best of losers. What are the chances if the Indians were to move out of Cleveland they would win a World Series?
It worked for the football team. The Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens.and won a Super Bowl 4 years later. The "new" Browns are still waiting for their first Super Bowl.
Ahh did you watch Major League? I think that movie makes everyone believe that Cleveland can at least win a pennant. But where could they move to? New York has 2 teams, as does LA. I think they're gonna stay put. What are the chances if the Indians were to move out of Cleveland they would win a World Series?
WALE -- wait a minute. There streak is a lot shorter than the Cubs. If not this year -- which is a real possibility -- then sooner than the Cubs, which would leave the Northsiders with the ONLY streak left.
They would probably win one the next year. Cleveland is a cursed town
Move them to Akron - instant success.
They could move to South Beach and crash at LeChoke's crib.

And they still wouldn't win a championship...
About the same as the flubs.
Lakewood would be a good place for them.

Where can I safely park my car for 4 nights in downtown Cleveland?

I'm taking a trip via Greyhound and I'll need a safe place to park my care in Cleveland, Ohio for 4 consecutive nights. Where could I do this?Where can I safely park my car for 4 nights in downtown Cleveland?
Maybe at Tower City. Most people get dropped off and picked up at the Greyhound station. There is a parking lot east of the station on Chester, we parked there once for a day we were gone for like 13h hours, the car was untouched. The parking lot is like a 2 minute walk from the station but it is a pay at the slot type of place.
Are you staying in hotel in downtown? if so leave car in hotel parking garage if not i don't advise leaving it downtown.Where can I safely park my car for 4 nights in downtown Cleveland?
No where!! Arrange for someone to drop you off and pick you up! If it isnt safe then it will be mondo expensive...take your pick!
We had the same dilema about 3 weeks ago. Our hotel was charging us $16 a day to park, which isn't bad for one day, but when you are there for 3-4 days it adds up. So we parked our car at a park-n-ride in Euclid and took the bus to our hotel. Instead of paying $48 for parking, we paid $3.50 in bus fare. However if you are familiar with Euclid bus route, it goes through some rough areas. There are other park-n-rides though around town.

  • Should Cleveland Browns fans be happy that Eric Mangini is the new head coach?

I want a Superbowl win for the Cleveland Browns. Is this the man who can deliver it?Should Cleveland Browns fans be happy that Eric Mangini is the new head coach?
As a fellow Browns fan, I am happy with this selection. As most Browns fan (includding myself) and our owner wanted a head coach with past experience he was thst most logical choice. Coaches like Shannahan, Holmgren, and Cowher are the top 3 choices on the market but none showed interest in coaching especially in Cleveland. Furthermore, second time head coaches have a very good success rate in the NFL so hopefully he has learned from his past mistakes.

I think the main reason why this might be a good hire for the Browns is the fact that Mangini had 2 winning seasons in NY out of the 3 he was there. He would have had a winning season and probably won the division if Brett Farve didn't sabotage. Also, the skeptical NY media appreciated him along with his players and most fans.

Also, it looks like Manginia already knows what he wants and what we need. With him coming we wil be able to keep the 3-4 defense along with bringing Rex Ryan to be the defensive coordinator. This will hopefully tranform our passive defense into an aggresive and blitzing style the 3-4 should bring. On the offensive side, Mangini wants to bring over some of his Jets assistants to run the west coast system similar to Brady Quinn's style at Notre Dame.

I'm not saying this is greatest hire in the history of sports, but Lerner could have hired alot worse.
Kinda doubt it, hasn't happened yet in 80 years, I don't see the Browns winning the Super Bowl ever, not until they want to spend the money required to win a SB. Other than Kellen Winslow I don't see any talent on that team.....offense or defense.Should Cleveland Browns fans be happy that Eric Mangini is the new head coach?
If I was a Browns fan, I'd be happy about a new coach. You have good players so it must be the coaching. Although I seriously believe someone paid Braylon Edwards to drop balls. There was one game I was watching about mid-season where he caught a ball in the endzone and it looked like he had it between his arm and chest, then when he went to put his other hand on it to secure it, it looked like he pushed on the top of the ball so it would slip out and it did. I've never seen a NFL reciever (especially one of his caliber) have that much control of a ball and drop it without being touched.
Browns fans should be happy about anything that's new.
    No,

Give him 3 years and he'll be out like Lance Bass.
Enjoy Mediocrity. He will be fired in a few years. To brooke why would Rex Ryan leave many head coaching opportunities and a defensive coordinator position with the Ravens behind to be the Browns defensive coordinator?
Eric Mangini couldn't deliver pizza's for dominoes never mind a superbowl for the browns.
I think he's walking into a good situation. The Browns have some good young offensive talent with Brady, Winslow, and Edwards when he's not dropping the ball.

His biggest issue will be to upgrade their defense. There will be a lot of good defensive free agent players in 2009 they could go after. In addition to that the Browns will get the 4th pick in the draft.

As for a Super Bowl? Who knows? They should however have much better record in 2009 having finished 4-12 this year. Their schedule should be fairly easy in 2009.
Cleveland should be happy with Eric Mangini was the new head coach. He comes from the Bellichek school of coaching much like Crennal, but he's the so-called Mangenius. Mangini should be able to further the development of Brady Quinn who is already the face of a franchise in need of an identity.

I feel that the situation with Cleveland will be better than Mangini's situation with the Jets. Cleveland has more talent, and Mangini is going to have to find a way to create some positive chemistry. Can he help Brady Quinn become a leader? Maybe...

The one knock I will give to a Superbowl win in Cleveland and Mangini is that his defenses have not faired so well. Cleveland does run a 3-4 much like the Jets 3-4, but obviously Mangini doesn't focus on defense to win games. His mentality has to change or he needs to hire a PROVEN defensive coordinator.

I don't think this team will win the Superbowl anytime soon, but there are a lot of pieces in place that could lead to one maybe in the next decade or so.
    idk should we?
Eric Mangini is a good but safe choice. Owner Lerner didn't want a coordinator or college head coach to be the Browns head coach. He wanted someone with experience who's long-term. I liked the idea of hiring Marty Schottenheimer but I'm sure his age and health were a concern for the owner.

The question is: Couldn't the Browns wait until Shanahan returns from vacation or Cowher changes his mind? You would think it's a matter of being patient for the best candidate BUT...

The reason why teams fire and hire head coaches right after the regular season is staffing... Mangini has reportedly hired his offensive and defensive coordinators already. Right now, he can pick whoever he wants from non-playoff teams. He's restricted to not hiring playoff team coaches, but why would they come to Cleveland unless it's a promotion?

Remember when Romeo Crennel got hired after the Super Bowl? He ended up hiring an inexperienced Mo Carthon as offensive coordinator, a job way over his head. His staffing hires were hurried...

The Browns have good or promising offensive talent at critical positions to work from. Their defense needs a lot of work... The Browns are in better position today to succeed than 2005 when Crennel was hired but they still need more talent.

Likelihood of finding a cab in Cleveland to go to Akron?

I would like to take Amtrak into Cleveland Ohio but it arrives and leaves at odd times, like 1 am and 4 am. That would not normally be a problem, except that I live in Akron Ohio and have no other way to go to and from Akron except by cab. What is the likelihood I would find a cab driver wanting to go to Akron that time in the evening?Likelihood of finding a cab in Cleveland to go to Akron?
Most cab companies run 24 hrs a day, you just need to call to get one ordered.Likelihood of finding a cab in Cleveland to go to Akron?
There is a high chance you will find a willing driver to take you, but don't rule out Greyhound, it may be cheaper for you to catch a bus up to Cleveland. Do a little research to find out which one is cheaper and quicker.

Restaurant to celebrate college graduation in Cleveland?
You have to be s**tting me. I was asking in the class range of Morton's. Do you know what Morton's is? You suggested Applebee's. I live in hillbilly Ashtabula and I have one here. If I wanted to go to a chain restaurant I would stay here.

I don't know which part of Cleveland you really mean. But Olive Garden is reasonably priced and has locations throughout greater Cleveland. Or maybe one of the wonderful restaurants out in Little Italy.

Which presidential candidate is better for Cleveland's economy?

I am just wondering what other people think. Things are stable here, but not growing. Just stable. I really want to stay in this area, it's the perfect place to live, it is just not doing so well since Bush took office. Seriously, the region has been hurting for the past 8 years. The '90s were fine economically for Cleveland, low unemployment with moderate growth in most sectors, just this decade that's been rough. Which presidential candidate is better for Cleveland's economy?
Obama is offering tax breaks to companies that keep jobs here, he is offering to invest in public education, he is promising to fund the R%26amp;D of green technologies which will result in millions of new jobs that can occupy a part of the place in the economy that was once occupied by industries that have since fled overseas.
Obama. McCain doesn't know ANYTHING about the economy.Which presidential candidate is better for Cleveland's economy?
Obama. McCain's plan will lead to destruction.
    Obama
Republicans have focked up this country over all

put the entire republican party into prisons across America so that they don't integrate into our society and contaminate us with their lies and bull $hits

Do you need affordable energy in Cleveland? How about jobs?

McCain/Palin want to open up our natural resources and lower taxes so your boss can expand his operation.

Lower gas prices would be a consumer tax cut.

Our economy can't afford to switch from petroleum to alternative energy right now. America runs on gas.
McCain, a no brainer there! what can the empty suit do, build a mosque?
    Good question.

Obama promises hope and change for Cleveland's economy, but McCain has said that he'll actually take funds from the infrastructure, invest that in federal gains loans, create public as well as private sector jobs, and he'll ensure that big business and factory jobs stay local as opposed to be being sublet out.

    Check the facts.

McCain unless you think all that spending and taxing will help the economy?
Newsflash: Cleveland's economy has SUCKED a big one since the '80's... it just never got going the way it should have. On a lighter note, the pollution isn't as bad, and the river doesn't catch fire like it used to!!! The truth is, companies are leaving Cleveland for lower taxes in other states. Modeling this for the country, you can see that McCain's policy of lower taxes for companies is better than taxing them and scaring them away. Our corporate taxes are higher than Europes, if that tells you anything...we're holding onto companies because of the weaker dollar, though!!! I think it's time for Kucinich to go, as a means of pushing Pelosi out of the House - it's the only way!!!
If Cleveland proudly produces bombs, tanks, artillary, fighter jets, OIL pumps, guns, bullets, waterboards, missles and more bombs, anything to do with more killing and raining destruction on small weak OIL countries, then McCain is your Grumpy Old Hero. He admits he doesn't know anything about economics, can't even use a computer, so expect him to follow Bush's leadership into further economic disaster.

If Cleveland produces, or wants to produce, solar cells, electric cars, biofuel, wind generators, modern technology advanced anything and general prosperity, plus believes it's better to make friends than enemies, then you should chose Obama and Biden.
