How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?

My boyfriend is coming to visit me for my birthday on the weekend of September 25th. The only problem is that the flights from Toronto to Cleveland are outrageously expensive. Are there any ways to find cheaper flights or cheaper ways to travel ? His brother is borrowing his car for the weekend, so driving isn't an option. Any help ?How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?
He could take a Greyhound bus, those are really cheap. And like other people are saying, flying within the Canada and then taking a bus the rest of the way would also be pretty cheap. The reason the flights are considered so expensive is because between the US and Canada is considered "international" so dumb, lol.

Also, if none of these options work out he should tell his brother to borrow his car on a different weekend, as gas prices are now reasonable and driving would be by far the cheapest option.
I recommend taking the train. It's fast, comfortable, and cheap. If you book ahead, you can get a one-way ticket for $75, or round-trip for $136. It's a full day of travelling.

DEPART Toronto Union Station at 8:30am aboard Amtrak #64/VIA Rail #97, the Maple Leaf, and arrive Buffalo at 1:16pm.

DEPART Buffalo Depew at 11:59pm aboard Amtrak #49, the Lake Shore Limited, arriving Cleveland at 3:27am.

The second option is Greyhound bus. Not as comfortable, but faster. It takes an average of 8 hours with a transfer in Buffalo, and costs $51 each way if booked in advance. See http://greyhound.ca for schedule and pricing details. How to get from Toronto to Cleveland ?

Usd $240 one way on delta
Fly to Buffalo and then rent a car to Toronto. Or bus it all the way. Or take the train.
Try U.S Air, they are cheap and on time.
