Does anyone know where a dog pound is in cleveland ohio? How much does it cost to put a dog to sleep?

My dog is very old and he is getting very sick and he doesn't walk very good and he just seems very sad no matter what I do. Everyone keeps telling me to put him to sleep and as much as I would hate to do it I dont want him to be in pain anymore. I need to find a location that does it in cleveland ohio and how much it would cost.Does anyone know where a dog pound is in cleveland ohio? How much does it cost to put a dog to sleep?
Laura, I would suggest contacting this organization, and asking if they have a program for humane euthanasia, or if they have recommendations:

Friends of City of Cleveland Kennel

2690 West 7th Street

Cleveland, OH 44113

I heard some pet shelters in OH use gassing to put them to sleep.

(a shelter is not the place to take it to be put down %26amp; a vet can tell you if the dog should be PTS or maybe even make the dog a little better.)

I'm in the Cleveland area and there are several pounds and shelters here, but ...

Please don't just dump your dog off at a pound or shelter. Your old friend deserves better than that, doesn't he?

Make arrangements with your vet to have your dog humanely euthanized. Most vets will do this for a minimal cost, and some will even come to your home to administer the shot so that your dog can "go to sleep" in a familiar environment.

If you take your dog to the pound to be euthanized, he will be alone at the end ... and he will be gassed to death. If you arrange the euthanasia through a vet, you can stay with him as the injection is administered. He will simply drift off to sleep, as he has done thousands of times ... he will feel no pain or anxiety.

Yeah, this will be painful for you. But think of your dog ... he deserves to take his final rest in the company of his favorite person (YOU) ... it would be pretty cold and heartless to have him spend his last hours in a strange and friendless place.
Don't take him to the pound, for Heaven's sake! Imagine how afraid he will be if you leave him there to be killed! I don't know how you could even think of doing that. Most pounds wil not let you stay with the animal when they are euthanized, which is terrible for the poor dog.You need to call around and find a vet and stay with your dog while he is put to sleep. You wouldn't want to die with strangers, would you?
My mother who died of cancer told me if she had known what it was like to be old and ill, she would have put our Peppy down long before she did. Depending on the size of the dog it can cost between $40.00 and $100.00. I hope this helps.
a vet can do it and most spcas do as well.

look at petfinder.com for your local shelter, or look in the phone book

give a call as prices vary by location.
Gateway Animal Clinic located on or near W14th in Cleveland, OH is a low cost animal hospital that can assist you with your decission.
your vet will gladly do it.

Shelters do not ussually offer euthanasia as a "service".. they do it out of neceissity because they get over populated.
let him live! would you rather be sick and old or dead!and also bleazy smoka...WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!would you wanna die with someone you love killing you very evilish and mean!
Take him to the vet but first pray that he will get better I will too because everyday miracles happen :D
Why not take him to the vet?
Cheap way - Take him out back with a gun like they did in the old days.
