Is Lebron an idiot for openly supporting the Yankees as a native to Cleveland?

He was at the Indians game openly wearing a Yankees hat and supporting them. What a moron. He's not even from New York City. I wouldn't even root for him anymore in Cleveland if I lived there. What a tacky thing to do, especially when the Indians are playing the Yankees in a playoff series. Is Lebron an idiot for openly supporting the Yankees as a native to Cleveland?
He should be allowed to choose whatever team to root for, even if it is the Spankees.
i know i have no idea what he was thinkingIs Lebron an idiot for openly supporting the Yankees as a native to Cleveland?
The bigger question: Why should you care?

At the end of the day he is a human being just like you who can root for and support whatever team he wants.

I am in Arizona and half the people at Chase Field are rooting for the Cubs. Get over it.
maybe he is just immature.
I dont care where u are from or what professional sports team you play for....you can root for any team you want. Lebron has been a savior for the Cavs and will be a popular player if he wears a Red Sox hat the next series.

If you are a true fan of a team it doesnt matter where u are from. For instance, 90% of the people in my area are Dallas Cowboy fans, I wear my Packers stuff with pride, no matter wether they win or lose. I am also an Indians fan in a place where it is about the Braves and the Rangers. My step dad is a huge Texas Longhorns fan in Oklahoma, and wears his Horns stuff all the time.

So to answere the question.....no he is not an idiot, but he is a dedicated fan to wear something like that in a town that pays you your salary and not worry about people that will take offense to you wearing your favorite teams stuff.
Look at it this way, he was at the game. He told the reporter he has always been a Yankee fan. This is America, you have the right to like whoever you choose. Go to a ball game sometime %26amp; look around at all the different hats, shirts, etc. that you will see. Lebron plays Basketball and when he does, he gives his all. He admitted he doesn't like the Browns either, None of which make him an "idiot". He loves Cleveland %26amp; does a heck of a lot of good things for the underpriveleged in Cleveland. Who cares about a hat???
I'm surprised so many people care about what Lebron James thinks. This is America. You can root for any team you'd like to. It's his choice. Since when does playing in the same city as your playoff-counterpart of another sport automatically make you one of their fans? I've seen Lebron wear Yankee caps a long time beforehand. He DOES like New York.
If you are from Cleveland, you are obligated to be an Indians fan, or else you have no right to be a baseball fan at all. If you are from Mass or Northern New England, you are obligated to be a Red Sox fan. New Yorkers are obligated to be Mets or Yankees fans. People who cheer for a team that is not from their same geographic area display a fundamental problem in their emotional development, a pathological inability to blend successfully with their larger community. Modern psychology has established this as clinical fact. The only exception is for people whose parents grew up in one area and became die-hard fans of their local team, then moved to another area and still raised their children with the old ways. If your parents grew up in Chicago and moved to California, then you could technically be a Cubs or White Sox fan without being a psychologically under-developed head case. Of course this is America, and you truly are entitled to cheer for any team you want to cheer for. But it says a great deal about your psychological makeup. In America you are also entitled to be a 21 year old guy who sits on mom's couch all day playing video games instead of working out at a gym and going out to meet nice girls. It's your right as an American. But it means you are a mama's boy who never got over his Oedipal complex and probably still wets his bed. You can infer similar pathologies in a native Clevelander wearing a Yankees hat.

If you live in a geographic backwater with no pro sports, I suppose you are welcome to cheer for who you want--I mean, what's the difference if you cheer for a team 800 miles away or a team that is 2000 miles away? Not much. But such people don't really count as real fans. That's why so many hick states have completely corrupted and destroyed the concept of the student athlete at their local State U--they don't have any real pros to cheer for, so they whore their college kids out and make them pros. You notice how the Northeast doesn't produce anywhere near as many top college teams as places like Oklahoma? It's because we already have adults we can cheer for.
No, I give him props for sticking with his team. There is no law that says you have to support your hometown team. I'm from Ohio, and have held a long-term grudge against the Cavs for trading Ron Harper for Danny Ferry. I adopted the Spurs as my team back in 1987 and got a lot of flack this year during the Finals from Cavs fans. Now if he shows up in Indians gear for game 2...that's a different story.
Hey, we love LeBron, get off your high horse. He's a good boy and this is America, land of the FREE and just because we live in a town does not mean we have to root for their ball team BUT, he does have to be a CAVs fan because he gets alot of money there.
i dont see how it matters. Lebron can like or route for whoever he wants to. He doesnt have to be from New York for him to like the Yankees. I'm not from Chicago but i like the Bulls and have even after Jordan and everyone else left. That just doesnt make sense to me at all.
the way i see it, the tribe is up 1 game to 0, and the cavs just got to the finals for the first time ( all thanks to lebron ) it would be nice to see him support the tribe but screw it, he got me to love the cavs again.
Who cares what baseball team he roots for, all Cavs fans should be concerned with is he is wearing a Cavs uniform when Basketball season starts.
The problem he has is that most of the fans that cheer for him also cheer for the Indians, and it is never a good idea to alienate your own fans, you need them all. He could have used a little better judgment but better a Yankees cap than a Knicks cap.
YES! He is an idiot! Why? Because he is the face of cleveland and yet he is cheering for the yanks... He should'nt wore that stupid hat its disrespecting for the indians players. What if sabathia, sizemore, hafner and Co... watch a cavs playoff game and wore an opposing team's jersey? If he is a NY fan he should have kept it to his self and not publicly wishing for the indians to lose.
SHUT UP! he can root for wat ever team he wants it doesnt matter if he was born in cleveland there some yankees fans in florida and they dont root for tampa they root for the yankees
Honestly? Who cares....I said the same thing when everyone was in uproar over Tom Brady wearing a Yankees hat...and I am a Red Sox and Patriots fan. As long as he isn't wearing a Bulls (or any other basketball team) hat you shouldn't care...I may have been pissed at Brady if he were wearing a Jets or Colts hat but if he wants to wear a Yankees hat...whatever....same thing for Lebron wearing a Yankees hat.
Yeah, we don't need him anyways. Did you hear that crowd last night? I've never heard such a noise coming out of 44,000 people. It sounded like a Cleveland Browns game, when the opponent has the ball and it is 3rd and 5 on the 42 yard line. I had goose bumps like 5 times within an hour last night. I can't wait until I get out of work at 5 so I can watch another schalacking of the Evil Empire. F U LeBRON!!!
It just shows you how much he loves Cleveland. The most important game in over 20 years and the jerk wears the ememies hat.You Cav fans should give it to him good when they open the season. What a dumba##!
Personally, I thought it was kind of funny. He's got a lot of guts to show up at an Indians games with a Yankees hat on, but I can't say it bothered me that much. I think something like this can be blown way up out of proportion. He's got a right to root for whoever he wants. At least you know he's not anti-Cleveland like the typical Yankees fan probably is.
He just wants attention. He grew up less than an hour away from me, and I'm ashamed. I just don't want to give him all the publicity he's getting for it. Just makes his ego grow inch by inch.
Why does anyone care?
I live in Cleveland and I think Lebron feels he's so important that he can do whatever he wants. How would he feel if a player for the Tribe wore a Spurs jersey to the Cavs playoffs and rooted for the Spurs. Its a slap in the face.
