How is Manny's single that hit the Yellow line in Cleveland not a home run?

All I'm saying is that if a foul pole is painted yellow and if you strike it, its a home run. There are Yellow lines painted on the walls at Fenway, if you hit it, its a home run. How is it not a home run in Cleveland? How is Manny's single that hit the Yellow line in Cleveland not a home run?
Different stadiums have different ground rules, all of which are explained to the managers before the game. I'm an Indians fan, but that looked like a home run to me. However, according to the rules, they got the call right.
You got me. I haven't been too happy with the umps in cleveland anyway, too many sketchy calls on both teams. I think it should have been a home run. P.S. Manny needs to start running out of the box, at least make it a double!!How is Manny's single that hit the Yellow line in Cleveland not a home run?
They clearly said that the yellow line is part of the wall.

It is called a "ground rule" and every stadium has them. They define what is fair what is foul what is a home run. The umpires go over them with the team before each and every game.

Like in Minnesota where the speakers hanging from the ceiling are officially part of the "sky", lol.
That's true, and it did look like a Home Run,but i guess the ump disagrees.
It's not because it is painted yellow. From my understanding and from watching the replay, it hit the top of the padding and the umpires are saying the way it bounced back was the reason it was not a home run.

Also the Sox won why are you complaining?
I do not understand all the confusion about this call. The bounce of the ball tells you what happened. For a ball to bounce as it did that means it hit something solid and hard (not soft like padding). When you look at the replay in slow motion and enlarged, you can see the ball pass over the yellow and strike a surface and bounce back on the field of play. If the hard surface was not there for the bounce the ball would have cleared the wall and been called a home run. It hit the concrete that is being protected by the pad. Thus the ball cleared the yellow line it cleared the wall and was a home run. You should not even need a replay to know this based on the way the ball bounced, it never would have bounced so high had it hit the padding. Physics is physics, you cannot argue some facts, and this is one of them.
The Yellow line is considered inside the park. Anything past the line is home run territory. If it hits the line and comes back in its in play, if it hits the line and still goes out its a ground rule double because it hit the line first.
it has to be above the yellow line, since it bounced back in, instead of into the crowd, it did not go above it. im a sox fan, it was not a hr, the boys in blue called it right, manny run for goodness sake!!(its a easy double)
It has to be OVER the wall to be a homerun. If they give it up so easy in Fenway to Almost Balls, that's their problem.
Each ballpark has its own ground rules. In Cleveland that's not a homer. The umps got it right.
its all in who'se calling it a homerun or a single, thats why they should have instant replays!!!! it was a homerun.....
good point..... That's called the "home advantage"
