I have been looking into music schools and I saw the Cleveland Institute of Music. It caught my eye but I dont know much about it. What are the positives and negatives about the school and where would you place it on the ranking lists? Top 5, 10, 15, 25?What is good about the Cleveland Institute of Music?
It's definitely one of the top music schools in the nation! It's a conservatory in University Circle (http://www.universitycircle.org ); shares a campus w/ Case Western Reserve University, The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, The Western Reserve Historical Society, The Natural History Museum. It's considered the "cultural center of Cleveland". The Cleveland Orchestra (one of the top 5 in the nation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_O鈥?/a> ) is on the same street, walking distance from CIM. In fact, everything in University Circle is walkable. Some Cleveland Orchestra members teach at CIM.
Most of the grads from CIM go onto play in world famous orchestras/symphonies. What instrument do you play? Are you a senior or a junior. You should definitely call the different schools you are interested in to talk to them about what they have to offer. What is good about the Cleveland Institute of Music?
It is in the top 10 in the US, in the world it probably range in the top 25.
You should really do a lot of research on your instrument. The institute is good for some instruments, for others its not. Like I said, do some research.
