Is it legal to install a wood-burning stove in my house in Cleveland Ohio?

I would like to burn wood this winter. Last winter I lived in a cottage with a wood burner in Lake Milton and loved the experience (and huge savings). This winter I would like to use a woodburner to heat my home in Cleveland which currently has a gas furnace. Is it legal to install a wood-burning stove in my house in Cleveland Ohio?
Probably not if you have any liberal bureaucrats there.
i think you should be o.k. cleveland's is on a different planet to earth, so you won't be affecting anyone else.Is it legal to install a wood-burning stove in my house in Cleveland Ohio?
Yes, with approval, I would check with the building code department of the city or county jurisdiction that you live in. There may possibly be a minimum chimney height that you have to maintain.

I live in Ohio ( Dayton ) and I have neighbors that have installed the woodburner units in their homes.

The local gas provider has told us to expect at least a 50% increase in out heating bills. I wish I had the option of using wood, but I can't even afford to change over.
Good on you - as long as its now a House-burning stove you might be alright lol! Check with your local Fire Brigade guys, they should know. You might be in a smokeless zone? You do have a chimney right?

I love wood fires!
