My friend is visiting Cleveland on his way to Detroit.. He will be in Cleveland for a day.. What are the places I can take him to.What are the places to visit in Cleveland?
It depends upon his interests.
The West Side Market is one of the greatest public markets in the country. Foodies love it. Go in the morning when shelves still are full.
Great Lakes Brewery is a short walk from the West Side Market and offers some of the nation's best beer.
The Cleveland Museum of Art is one of the nation's best and there is no admission charge to the museum's permanent galleries.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum features a major Bruce Springsteen exhibit.
The Arcade at East 4th St. and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Public Square are two great examples of 19th century American architecture.
East 4th St. is perhaps Cleveland's leading dining and entertainment district and contains some of the best restaurants in the Midwest.
Playhouse Square is the second largest performing arts center in the U.S. after Lincoln Center in NYC. The Hanna Theatre especially is a novel performing space.
The U.S.S. Cod is one of Cleveland's favorite attractions. It's the only remaining unmodified WWII U.S. fleet submarine. Visitors enter and exit through the original hatches and ladders.
The Cleveland Metropark Zoo features its superb Rain Forest exhibit and has the largest collection of primates in the nation.
The Cleveland Clinic is one of the world's great medical centers. Visit its pyramid.
Kirtland, a half hour east of downtown Cleveland, offers three great attractions. The Lake Metropark Farmpark is one of the best in the U.S. Holden Arboretum is one of the largest and best in the U.S. The Kirtland Temple is the first Mormon Temple and the only one open to the public.
Southeast of Cleveland is Ohio Amish Country and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
And, of course, one hour west downtown is Cedar Point, the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.
Cleveland offers many fun bars and music venues.
