I just read an article about how Lebron left cleveland that outraged the city (because of the way he did it) What's with declaring his decision on a public TV? I just don't see any problems with that. What do you think? What was the mistake that Lebron did when leaving cleveland?
The "problem" with LeBron's departure was more about style than anything. He was a free agent, and legally could go anywhere he wanted. When he decided what he was doing, he and ESPN staged an hour-long TV special, which was heavily hyped and promoted. At the end of the show, he announced that he was "taking my talents to South Beach" to play for the Miami Heat. He did so without first telling anyone in Cleveland Cavaliers management of his decision, and many people, on top of being upset that they were losing their favorite player, felt that he should have handled his decision without all the fanfare. You're right; there was no "problem" with his decision or even how he presented it (in fact, the TV show raised several million dollars for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America).
It was a classless, narcissistic and lousy way to stab them in the back.
He had known for a long time that he and Bosh and Wade had already decided they wanted to play together, yet he waited until the last week of free agency to have "The Decision." That means that he made sure that the Cavs were left without time to change plans and seek other free agents or possible trades.
LeBron deliberately made sure to do maximum damage when he left. What was the mistake that Lebron did when leaving cleveland?
i love lebron james and i hate the cavs, so when he left, i was happy. most people agree that it was ok for him to leave because his contract was up, but that he slapped the face of every single person in cleveland, and the town's sports have sucked forever, so this was just another slap in the face which really didn't have to happen.
you have to really have followed the story in context to understand. he created all this drama (%26amp; it escalated as it went along) for 3 straight years basically for show. to promote his brand. he ate up the entire free agency %26amp; didnt notify the team so that they could do what they need to do. %26amp; then he went on national tv to announce in a celebratory fashion that hes leaving. it was classless %26amp; done in very poor taste. he went from loved nationwide to being one of the most hated athletes over night. people took it to be very egotistical %26amp; that he toyed with peoples emotions %26amp; wasted their time.
there is nothing wrong with him leaving, it was just how he did it came off as disrespectful %26amp; inconsiderate %26amp; i do think he owed the fans at least that much respect.
It's something u dont do. If you were breaking up with ur girl, would you do it privately or in public??? That's the only thing that I dont agree with is doing it on live television. I would of made the decision to leave Cleveland years ago. I give him loyalty points for sticking around this long.
Everything that he does is going to be under the microscope and haters are going to find ways to hate on him. Look, I understand what he did and why he did it, but if you think that Cavs fans and Lebron haters were going to like it, well maybe not, huh?
cavs offered him more money than miami...
when jordan came back to the game he didnt need an hour on espn to say that he was comin back...as a clevelander and a fan of cleveland sports, its jus THE WAY he left. imagine your favorite player on your favorite team leaving your city like that...
the guy was worshiped in Cleveland
and he said bye bye - for the money
principle rather than method of announcement
all the best
he wants a championship ring and that is impossible with the Cavs
for the money? he got a pay cut.
