My mother and I really want a pittiebull because of how sweet they are, but we heard a lot of things about the laws in Cleveland for them. If they are still very strict, is there a way around it, or a place close where they are allowed? What are the current pit bull laws in Cleveland Ohio?
I am Not trying to sound Mean, because you seem really nice- but you don't own APBTs because of how sweet they are. Just because you own a Pit Bull doesn't promise it will be nice- it all depends on the Breeder, its upbringing, training %26amp; Socialization.
Only own an APBT if you have the Time, Money, Experience, %26amp; tough Skin. By owning a " Pit Bull" you will find out that you will be Judge- not by your actions but by the dog you own. You will be called a Thug, White Trash, everything in the book %26amp; you will be expected to FAIL!
Owning a " Pit Bull" is more difficult than any other Breed! Don't own a pit bull if you don't own a huge yard w/ proper fencing. Don't own a pit bull if you don't plan on taking it to Obedience Classes. Don't own a Pit Bull if you can't give them the Daily Mental Stimulation they Need!
DON'T OWN A PIT BULL UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO BE AN AMBASSADOR FOR THIS BREED!
You need to call the City of Cleveland to find out their Policies %26amp; I hope u the best- because I want to see More Responsible Owners!
PS- If you do get one- PLEASE SPAY %26amp; NEUTER!
My daughter lives in the Cleveland suburbs (both east and west), and owns a pit bull that has been professionally trained by "dangerous breed" experts, and now works as a therapy dog with children and the elderly. Katie (the daughter) and Lucy (the grand-dog) have been forced to sneak around from Streetsboro to Westlake! When questioned about Lucy's breed, Katie truthfully replies she's an American Staffordshire Terrier, and along with Lucy's sweet demeanor this has worked. Good luck to you. I too was leary of this breed, but extensive obedience training and Lucy's personality changed my mind! What are the current pit bull laws in Cleveland Ohio?
Apparently as of the 9th, they are no longer considered a vicious breed.
Also, many thanks to people like you that want to own a dog that is very much misunderstood.
